Alberta College of Art + Design is one of only four publicly funded Canadian post-secondary institutions devoted exclusively to the advanced education of visual artists and designers. Application Process

For advertised positions at Alberta College of Art + Design, applicants are encouraged to:

  • Review the qualifications, application requirements, and closing date for the position of interest.
  • Applications must be received by 4:30 P.M. (MST) on the closing date.
  • Submit applications in electronic format via e-mail or on a CD-ROM.  
  • Send all required electronic support material in one package.  
  • Submit a separate application for each posting. Clearly identify the name of the position and the competition number.

For all applications:

  • Submit a cover letter, current resume or curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for three (3) references as a Word or PDF document. 

For faculty applications:

  • Submit a list of courses taught with course descriptions, student evaluations or evidence of teaching performance.
  • Submit a statement of teaching philosophy.
  • Include a vision statement for the future of the particular area in which the position resides (for permanent faculty applications only).
  • Please include up to 20 digital images of personal professional work and up to 20 digital examples of student coursework.  Ensure that a detailed description of the digital images accompanies the application and corresponds to the list of images. File names must be in the following format: 01initialsyeartitle.jpg (image number, applicant’s initials, year of the work, title of the work). The image number must correspond to the number provided in your image listing.
    • Submit files in “zipped”, “Stuffit” or compressed files
    • Submit .jpg files only
    • Submit files at 72 dpi resolution only
    • Submit images at a minimum size of  4” x 6” 
    • Submit RGB colour mode files only
    • Submit video using a link to a public server such as Vimeo or You Tube or provide a link to your own website
  • An application that does not include all required support material will be considered incomplete and will not be considered.  Please test the files before submitting to ensure that they have been formatted correctly and are readable and intact.

Note to Applicants

  • Do not submit files that are not fully PC compatible.
  • Do not submit material that requires software, plug-ins, extensions or other executables to be downloaded or installed.
  • Only material outlined as required above will be considered as part of your application.

Alberta College of Art + Design thanks all applicants in advance for their interest.  Although all complete submissions will be considered, only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.  Hard copies of materials or materials submitted by CD-ROM will not be returned.
