Lisa Benschop is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Calgary, Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English from the University of Alberta (2000). She spent two years in Toronto, where she worked in the non-profit sector and took evening courses in creative writing and photography. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture at the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2008, and became Director at the Stride Gallery in the summer of 2009. Her artistic practice is organized as the L. S. Benschop Institute for the Preservation & Veneration of Imagination & Nostalgia, and includes performative installation, institutional critique, and relational experimentation. She also makes paintings and mixed-media works on paper, and continues to explore creative writing and photography.
